What work do Operations Services do?
Production
At BHP Operations Services, we empower our people through Mastery practices to become exceptional operators and leaders. Our Production teams operate a diverse range of mining equipment, leveraging standardised operating practices to achieve clear performance targets. Feedback is a priority, ensuring continuous improvement and excellence in our work. Across our operations, these teams are key to ensuring that productivity, efficiency and safety are adhered to, whilst ensuring mining operations continue to run smoothly.

Maintenance
At BHP Operations Services, our Maintenance teams are dedicated to ensuring the reliability and availability of our fixed and mobile plant assets. Through a combination of preventative, planned, and breakdown maintenance, we optimise equipment performance and minimise downtime. Our teams undertake this critical work with a strong commitment to safety, ensuring that all maintenance activities are conducted with the utmost care and adherence to safety protocols. With a people focused approach, you’ll be supported not only by your leader but also your team to deliver key maintenance tasks, which are critical to a productive and safe operation. This might involve:
- Conducting regular inspections and servicing.
- Executing scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Responding to equipment failures and perform repairs.
- Performing safety check and ensure maintenance compliance.
- Providing technical support and troubleshoot issues.
- Identifying and implementing process and task improvements.

Repair Centres
Unique to BHP’s Operations Services, the Repair Centre teams based in Perth and Mackay carry out component repairs and rebuilds of mobile equipment and machines used at BHP mine sites across Australia.
Our Repair Centres offer a variety of different opportunities for those looking to move away from a remote mining role with a range of rosters that support a true work life balance; whilst still allowing you to develop in your career and benefit from all the perks of working for a company like BHP.

Perth Repair Centre

The Perth Repair Centre teams carry out component repairs and rebuilds of mobile equipment and machines used at BHP mine sites across WA from the centre in Welshpool, just 20 minutes from Perth’s CBD.

Mackay Repair Centre
Meet the talented team at our Mackay Repair Centre
The Mackay Repair Centre focus on repairing and rebuilding the components used on our mobile equipment and machines across BHP and BMA’s sites across Queensland. This can involve fault finding, problem solving and rebuilding transmissions, torque convertors and wheel-end differentials!
